Bali Indonesia @Rue de Vermont (Genève, Switzerland )

Hidden island feels.

The last place, that we visited during our stay in Geneva was a small corner restaurant on the ground level of a bigger apartment complex. Our hosts come here regularly to satisfy there cravings for Indonesian food and I can absolutely see why.

The owner is super nice and makes you feel welcome instantly, and the menu only holds very few dishes. My choice fell on the ‘Nasi Padang’, which was a beautiful potpourri of small dishes and condiments.

The beef rendang was so soft and succulent, not too strong on the coconut though and slightly creamy. Perfectly fluffily cooked rice, crunchy vegetables, coconut, tofu and beancurd for some fun textures and that egg with it’s fabulous sambal all worked together just nicely.

We all had the ‘Winter Drink’, which was a hot ginger based beverage with small apple cubes for entertainment and extra texture. Pretty awesome and simple.

Besides my ‘Nasi Padang’ they also offer a ‘Nasi Bali’, for which they use yellow rice and add extra chicken – both nasi are available as vegetarian options – an Indonesian type ‘Laksa’ as well as ‘Gado Gado’.

Something special and homely right there.
